Co-ordinators Day

We invite you to be ConnectED

Dublin City University is hosting the 2011 International Diverse conference. In association with Diverse, DCU and the National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE), will host a Professional Development day in the Helix, Dublin City University.

We wish to extend an invitation to representatives from each school (Principals or delegates) to attend. Principals do not need to be technologists but can act as advocates for the creative use of technology in order to stay ConnectEd to the future needs of their students.Up to 3 people from any one school may book online with the Helix, however given the current demand we urge you to book early to avoid any disappointment.

This Professional Development day promises to be very practical with a sharing of educational practice from international experts such as Dr Michael Wesch who is Associate Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Kansas State University, USA. and who is internationally known for his video work. His first video, "Web 2.0: The Machine is Us/ing Us" was the most blogged about video in the world in February 2007 and was invited for a special screening at the prestigious 2007 TED conference. Practical examples of how the integration of the effective technologies have transformed learning for teachers and students will be also presented by post primary school teachers who have already successfully implemented technology in their workplace.

Teachers who considered themselves non-tech savvy less than a year ago, will present how they are successfully using cutting edge technologies /web 2.0 in their teaching and learning. Post Primary teachers from across the curriculum will testify how their years of experience are still very much needed for students to make sense of what they are doing. However, the introduction of technology has given an energy, vitality and professionalism to their classes and schools that they had never previously envisaged. Looking forward to meeting with you on the day
