Michael Wesch

Michael Wesch is Associate Professor of Cultural Anthropology and Digital Ethnography at Kansas State University. He is a cultural anthropologist and media ecologist exploring the effects of new media on human interaction.His videos on culture, technology, education, and information have been viewed by millions, translated in over 15 languages, and are frequently featured at international film festivals and major academic conferences worldwide.

Wesch has won several major awards for his work with video, including a Wired Magazine Rave Award and the John Culkin Award for Outstanding Media Praxis from the Media Ecology Association. He has also won the 2008 CASE/Carnegie U.S. Professor of the Year for Doctoral and Research Universities and has been named an Emerging Explorer by National Geographic.
